What a surprise.
But I'm sure Obama has an explanation for why he pays his female staffers less than he does male staffers. It might have something to do with experience, skill, and performance.
You know, all of those other things that Democrats claim are excuses for sexism.

Commit a Crime, Free Airfare Time
Hard to believe if this were anywhere else, but de rigeur here.
San Francisco juvenile probation officials - citing the city's immigrant sanctuary status - are protecting Honduran youths caught dealing crack cocaine from possible federal deportation and have given some offenders a city-paid flight home with carte blanche to return.

Gas Pump? What's That?
Not since I got one of these babies.....
This beats the old magnetized paper ticket that either a) gets lost, b) gets demagnetized, or c) runs out of value at exactly the wrong time by a factor of oh, say, twelve. Instead, you simply swipe and go (not a word, Jamie).
To be fair, my total bill for mass transit to and from work is about $185 per month. However, take two gallons per day (@$4.50, friggin' California special single malt blend gasoline) plus $4 bridge toll times twenty days per month, all NOT tax-deductible, and it puts matters into very good perspective.
Not to mention the sanity savings.

The View, 24 June 2008
Having moved from a "business casual" to a "just wear something, that's all we ask" environment at work, the lesbian shoes have been bearing the brunt of daily activity and are starting to rebel from the lack of rest and airing out.
So I got them some friends.
By the way, that's the ground at MacArthur BART Station, and it's 6:50 PM.

CubsTracks, 'Cause I Haven't Posted Squat in Over a Week Edition
That, and I have the feeling my buddy Kevin over at Club Whirled might maybe could use a bit of happiness. :)
Moving Into Light, Black Fras (Freemasons Remix)
Yes, I like Freemasons a lot. And yes, this is my latest favorite by them.
Plus, I wonder if this is what John of Caulk is Cheap looks like if he grows facial hair.

The Damage
Head shot:
And from another angle:
The tube is there because canine bites are notoriously bad for creating little pockets that fill with bad bacteria and turn into abscesses; it allows air in and separation of tissues to prevent that. Fortunately, it came out today, putting an end to the "Dog of Frankenstein" wry humor around the household.
Stitches come out in a week; by then, I may be ready to go to the park where it happened again. I've just about stopped seeing that expression of panic and fear in his eyes as I was frantically and literally prying the other dog's jaws apart to free him.....and I can think about what happened without losing my composure completely.
People keep asking if I got a description of the dog and the owner. All I wanted when it happened was out of there; I wanted him home, I wanted the door shut behind me, and I wanted my baby safe. I couldn't tell you anything about the owner if you asked, and all I remember of the dog was its face.
Would that I could write or remember something more coherent. But I don't think I've ever had an experience this primal or soul-searing. As I've written before, the Mascot has gotten me through a lot, and in several cases, has been one of the few things that has kept me going.
I'm not ready for him to leave me yet.

Sorry For Being Out of It
Long story short, the NDT Mascot was attacked this morning by a pit bull at the park and ended up with two decent sized bites on the right and left of his neck. He's waiting at the vet now for cleanup, stitches, antibiotics, and one of those hideous protective collars.
Having worked as a vet tech, I know that he's fine, that it's nothing serious, and that he'll bounce right back after a couple of weeks.
But as his daddy.....

Minority Status First, Right and Wrong Last
Witness the hatchet job on California Supreme Court Justice Carol Corrigan.
Again, brought to you by the same people who insist they "cherish diversity and tolerance" and that being gay doesn't require you to believe or support the same things.
What a load of utter crap.
Corrigan is a judge. Her JOB is to put the law first and to call it as she sees it, regardless of whether it's popular or not, and ESPECIALLY not depending on how it might benefit her personally.
And now, for doing so, she has people screaming at her, calling her "self-loathing", and insisting she needs "therapy", all because she didn't rule the way that they thought would be most convenient for her.
